2010 Retreat...

It's been a while but Christmas is looming just round the corner and I have been frantically making presents, cards and....... organising the 2010 retreat day, Sunday 21st March 2010. 10.30am to 4.30pm. With a morning workshop based around the Ranger products and an afternoon Layout workshop being designed and hopefully taught by a guest teacher.

This time we have all of the upstairs of the shipwreck so can accomodate more people and give us the seperate 'classroom' area.

It's so exciting...and whats even better is we have been able to keep the £10.00 charge, there will be a small charge for the workshop and class.

Cardmaking and Scrapbooking Extravaganza

We had a great day at Needham Market Community Centre at the 2009 Cardmaking and Scrapbooking extravaganza.. it was a great day and it was wonderful to share it with Bob (thank you!)... Thank you also to everyone who stopped by our stand for a chat, to watch the demo's or just see what we do.
Sadly we were a little short on time to take pics...

I hope that alot of you can make it to the Retreat day on 8th November, 10.30 kick off and close at 4.30pm so a perfect amount of time to get those cards made, or make Crimbo pressies ( like I will!...) finish layouts or just come and see what we do, brilliant value with a Sandwich lunch included.

First Crop

We had our first Whoops-a-Daisy crop last night and it was excellent fun and although small we had a great laugh sharing crafting tips, scrapping and chatting for 3hrs!..

I was hoping to plan a workshop retreat/day at the shipwreck (our local ex old navy jaunt which has huge rooms for hire so we could cater for loads) but I think that people would get alot more out of a crop.. certainly more opportunity for chat and a really good laugh and get together.

I will post a date soon but it will be in October because of holidays etc... watch this space!..

Today see's the shop open in this glorious weather and alot more goodies being added to the website as I have the new Dotted swiss Scalloped papers in stock, along with some of the new bazzill Glazed cardstock (the Crimbo ones are gorgeous so grab them while you can because they will sell really quickly!!!).. have the new bloom papers in stock as well!..

Watching time!

I should be working, designing classes etc but what do I do.... make a clock!...

I had such a great time making it I thought I would share it.
Using DCWV Once upon a time papers, I normally struggle with using stacks but not this one!! it is so pretty, glittery, mythical and just so gorgeous.. the papers include fairies, dragons, scrolls, treasure maps and much more... I just know that I will be able to use all the papers. Anyway, I used the Happily Ever after paper from the stack, some BoBunny rubons on top of Lettuce Adirondack Dabber (sanded to make it look a little aged of course!)...

Anyway... back to the class prep!... thanks for stopping by :-)

This one is in the catalogue already so pop along to whoopsadaisy.biz and go into 'classes'
I also have loads more MME, fancy pants and the new Bazzill Glazed paper and Scalloped dotted swiss on back order so watch this space!

It's over!!!

What a day... it's been great, loads of people popping in and so many messages wishing well... I cannot thank people enough for the support they have shown me on my first day. It has been a great day and one that has eased my concerns over starting my new journey.
Had fun with the kids, letting them lose with glitter and stamps when I had a quiet moment, they were good and it's lovely to see their imagination working, hopefully 2 more potential scrappers/crafters!
I can't wait to get back in the shop tomorrow... I can see myself being in there everyday instead of the planned 4!

Have got some goodies coming into the shop over the next couple of weeks so I will have to move things around and I have already commissioned a new slatwall stand (thank you Bob!) so that I can put more of my papers on display so watch this space!

Bob took these pic's this morning... just before opening :-)

Opening today!

Count down has started, we open in less than an hour and as nervous as I am I am so, soo excited! .... Unfortunately we didnt have chance to take any pics to add to the blog but Bob is hoping to get a few action shots today! They will be pucblished over the weekend and I'll be back later to say how it all went :-)

Pic of the shop

We've been working hard on the shop this week ready for Saturday and as tough as it's been we are nearly there and I cant wait for Saturday to arrive!!..

Here is the pic of the inside of the shop for a bit of a sneaky peek before the opening day. Sadly I cant get a picture of the outside because of the delightful British weather we seem to be experiencing at the moment, when it dries up I will get out there and get snapping.
Better get back to work....

Layouts... as promised!

My layouts seem to be following a design pattern at the moment.. hopefully with the weather feeling like we may have a spring after all I wont find myself stuck in an inspiration rut...

The first layout I did I desperately wanted to use one of the new My minds Eye papers called paradise and instead of using some embellishments from my stash I used the accessory sheet from the kit, the printed jounaling lines on the paper was perfect as I love to actually hand write my journaling...

The second layout I haven't finished, but I wanted to add it anyway because there are 2 reasons why I love this page despite not knowing where I am going to take it next 1) my son took the picture and I love it that he is too is starting to love picking up a camera and 2) again I love the paper. I normally try and scrap with a neutral paper so that the photo is the focal point with the embellishment doing literally what it says, embellishing the photo/page.

I have had these crystals in my stash for some time ( I will be stocking these, they are gorgeous and so easy to use!).. the only thing that is missing in it for me is journalling so when I finally decide how I am going to add this element I will re post the page...
Watch this space... I will be back later in the week!

February Kit

At last... here it is!

The February kit is now available to buy online. The project I created with this months kit in mind was a little different to anything I have done before but I am sure not for so many people...

The kit is perfect for Mothers day with it's floral elements and any mother is bound to love any card, gift box or project made with this kit, the distress element is so much fun to do and adds a new ..or 'old' look to any project.

The kit opposite includes 7 Gypsies Buckles, 9 different papers, die cut flowers, hearts, brackets, circles all screaming to be distressed! Distress inkpad, ribbons, buttons, brads and a daisy bucket clear stamp... Have fun!!

Kit, Craft Shack and much more!...

This weather has caused me a nightmare with deliveries so my goodies for the February Kit have not arrived with me yet so I have had to change my plans a little and over the weekend I will be adding a different to planned but equally gorgeous kit, I wanted to create something with a twist so my project idea for this kit is not a card or layout but hopefully with give some inspiration for the mothers day.. and can be altered for any occasion.

Things are still moving forth with the shop and even though no opening date is available it is looking good and despite the cold spell we have been through stopping works a little (mainly because the remaining work is external) we are still positive and very hopeful that the shop will have a grant opening in March.

Stitches is this weekend, I really am looking forward to coming back with some new idea's and cant wait to see what is new out there... It will be shared when I get back next week.

I just Love Ranger!!!!

I know I am stating the obvious... I have just never really tried using very many of his products and because of that I have not stocked them but boy is that about to change!!!!!

I recently spent two and a half days working through over 80 Techniques using Ranger goodies and I had such a brilliant time. Sadly since I came back I have not had time to play with any of the goodies I brought back or start any projects but I am hoping to start a valentines project for my beloved this week... I refuse to leave it so late again and find myself buying one... how bad and embarrassing is that!

Back to those brilliant days, I created a project at the end of the couple of days and I overcame a couple of things...lack of inspiration and my first EVER use of a canvas.. It really isn't something that I would do but for me it was brilliant to step outside of my comfort zone.

I used Adirondack dimensional pearls in butterscotch for the background, edging it with terracotta and Espresso, really simple to apply using cut to size Cut-N-Dry.

The collage was created using the following:

1. Flower, black flower painted with Adirondack dimensional pearls.

2. Grass, Crumple background in hand, brushed background with distress embossing ink. Dust with Distress embossing powder and heat set. Crumble background again in different areas and wipe over with distress ink. mist background with water to allow the ink to blend. Iron the back of the background with a craft iron. Tear the dried paper into strips to create the grass effect.

3. Memory Frame with collage. create collage with papers, stickers, transfers and anything that that you wish. Using a frosted piece of memory glass heat emboss with clear ink and embossing powder onto the frosted side of the glass to create a 'clear' pattern on the glass. Cut the collage to size using the glass as the template. Fix the collage and glass into the frame.

4. Butterfly, Stamp the butterfly image onto cardstock using the black soot distress ink and clear embossing powder. using the distress ink twist the ink pads onto the craft sheets and using a paint brush and water paint in the butterfly, alternatively use Cut n Dry nibs. dust all of the image with clear embossing powder ( if the powder doesn't stick to the image use the distress embossing ink and a piece of cut n dry to cover the image) then heat set the embossing powder and cut out the image.

Arrange the pieces on the canvas.

January Kit

Firstly...Happy New Year!! Secondly, welcome to our January Kit. It's been a little delayed but well worth the wait.

The theme for this month is Valentines, and Romance. After Christmas there always seems to be a lull where the weather is dull and cold and we still have to catch up with the Christmas housework etc before we have anything to really look forward to or celebrate. Well, why not start making the cards and planning your layouts early with our Valentines Kit. It's always hard to picture what we can do with a kit so I have added a couple of idea's that I worked on with this kit, the kit is generous so you can achieve so much more with it that you can see below.

The shop has taken a little bit of a setback and looks set to Open in March. When I will be running SDU (Scrapbook, Design and You) classes, along with Scrapbooking technique, layout and card making classes.
